Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often must I renew my registration?
A: Once registered, you must renew your registration every five (5) year period.
Q: How do I renew my registration?
A: Registered members must be members in good standing with CARP National, adhere to the Association's Code of Ethics and submit evidence of 100 approved Continuing Education Units (CEU's) over a five (5) year period.
Q: How will I know if a workshop, seminar conference or in-service training session I attend is considered pre-approved for continuing education?
A: Many organizations seek pre-approval of their educational sessions. When registering you can ask the sponsor directly or when the session is complete the sponsor will provide participants with an attendance verification form with an approval number on it. To recieve credit, submit the form to the National office.
Q: What is considered to be proof of attendance?
A: Proof of attendance is considered to be:

  • Certificate of Completion

  • Letter from the sponsor (on letterhead) verifying your attendance which includes date(s) of program, title of session and number of hours attended.

  • CARP Attendance Verification form

  • Copy of transcripts if you have completed a university or college course.
Q: Can I get continuing education credits for activities that are not pre-approved?
A: Yes, continuing activity that satisfies the RRP Approved Focus/Content Area can be submitted for post-approval. The procedure is outline in the CE Process Guide above.
Q: If I acquire more than 100 hours in a five-year period, can I apply the excess hours to the next renewal cycle?
A: No, since continuing education is intended to keep the rehabilitation professional current with emerging trends and technology, it may be applied ONLY to the current registration cycle.
Q: Is there an advantage to submitting my continuing education more often than an annual basis?
A: Yes, it helps keep track of how many continuing education credits you have accumulated and how many hours are still needed to renew your registration.
Q: Can I accumulate all my hours through home study programs?
A: Yes, CARP does not restrict the method you use to obtain continuing education credits.
